Vilanculos

Further North on the EN-1 is Vilanculos, a small but rapidly growing center of tourism in Mozambique. See the Bazaruto page for where to stay in Vilanculos and the Bazaruto Archipelago. Vilanculos town does not have the same historical charm of Inhambane city, but is a well-stocked gateway to the Bazaruto Archipelago. If you are driving, you will be pleased that the town of Vilanculos is only 21 kilometers off of the EN-1 on a narrow but tarred access road. Alternatively, take it easy and book the package with flights, transfers and accommodation with Dana Tours.  If you decide to drive to Vilanculos, plan on 10 hours from Maputo.
