Visa update as of 01 August 2019
The Ministries of Finance and Immigration have increased the cost of visas to Mozambique, when buying the visa in your home country. The Border Visa fee currently remains unchanged at $50, is obtainable at 44 border posts and allows dual entry within a 30-day period.
As an example, you can land at Maputo Airport on the 1st of September, purchase a visa at the airport for $50, then visit Kruger Park during the month, and return to Mozambique through Ressano Garcia (Lebombo) border post on the 15th of September and remain in the country until the 30th of September.
Border visas are for bona fide tourists. Proof of accommodation and onward travel must be proven. If visiting friends or family, a ‘Termo de Responsabilidade’ (term of responsibility) is needed, written by the host.
Guests who prefer to get the visa in advance to avoid standing in line may purchase the visas in their home countries, at the new tariffs.
Dana Tours takes no responsibility for incorrect visa information which can be changed at any time. It is the traveller’s responsibility to confirm updated visa information with their local High Commission/Embassy. Find your local office here.
31 March 2017
On the 31st of March 2017, Mozambique instituted visas on arrival for tourists regardless of whether or not there is an embassy in their country of origin.
A Government-issued notice confirmed that citizens from countries that require visas to enter Mozambique will be able to get these on arrival at 44 border posts in Mozambique, including Maputo International Airport, and the Port of Maputo, as well as such border posts as Ressano Garcia, Goba, Ponto D’ouro, Giriyondo, Vilanculos Airport, Inhambane Airport, Beira Airport, Pemba Airport and Nampula Airport, among others.
The Visa on Arrival regime has been implemented and international visitors arriving in Mozambique will pay US$50 (or equivalent in Meticais or ZAR) for their dual-entry visa which will be valid for 30 days.
