We Know Mozambique

Meet the Dana Tours team – Francisco Sique

We continue with our series introducing you to the friendly-faced Mozambican experts that make up the Dana Tours team. If you’ve travelled with Dana Tours before, no doubt you’ve been welcomed and assisted by one of this fantastic team.

Continuing with our series, we introduce you to the man who gets you safely, in style, from point A to point B – one of our fantastic drivers, Francisco Sique.

Where are you from Francisco? I was born in Maputo and live in Matola (T-3 neighbourhood).

Experience/work background: I have been to many countries and met a lot of people with various cultures. I’ve also explored many tourist places in Mozambique.

Tell us about your family: I come from a simple and welcoming, humble family. They are always ready to help others even when we don’t have the conditions to do so.

What do you enjoy most about your job? I really love what I’m doing – the work environment with colleagues and teamwork, and that our employers know how to value their team.

How do you relax in your spare time? In my spare time, I stay at home with the family, take them to the beach, or the theatre for movies.

Your favourite places in Mozambique and why? My favourite place in Mozambique are the beaches because I love relaxing.

Your favourite local dish (and maybe a recipe)? My favourite traditional dish is Tseke.

Recipe: Tseke leaves, onion, garlic, curry powder, pepper and oil – mix them all in a pan. And you can also add coconut milk or crushed peanuts! (Ed’s note: Sounds delicious!)

What can guests look forward to in Mozambique? Our clients like to see the beaches, historical sites, our culture and to taste Mozambican food.

What are you most grateful for? In my life, I thank God for giving me life, wisdom and keeping me until today, to my parents for being born and I thank Mrs Natalie (Dana Tours Director) for the job she gave me to support myself and my family.

What have you always wanted to do? I always wanted to be a doctor to save lives or a mechanical engineer.

What do you want everyone in the world to know right now? What everyone should know now is: we are all struggling because of COVID-19, but together we are strong. Staying at home is the best medicine.

Any last words to add? Yes – I look forward to exploring our vast Mozambique as much as possible, as soon as possible.
